This is the orange and white finish of the folding litter box, and if the black version disappears into a corner, this one is for people who would rather it looked like something chosen than something tolerated. A litter tray usually has to live in a bathroom or utility room where it is the least attractive object present; a bit of colour is a reasonable response to that.

The folding is the real feature. It collapses to 14.5cm, which turns a bulky permanent fixture into something that stores flat between uses — worth having for a caravan, a second home, visits to relatives, or a small flat where the tray needs to vanish when guests arrive. Set up, it is a full enclosed box: a large private chamber, a 19.5cm circular door, a sand leak pedal at the entrance that takes granules off paws, an air freshener in the housing, and a high-edged lid that keeps a determined digger's work inside.

• Overall 52cm long x 41cm wide x 38cm high
• Interior 43 x 32 x 36cm
• Folds flat to 14.5cm
• 19.5cm circular door with litter-catching pedal
• Air freshener and 23.5cm scoop included
• PP and ABS; for cats up to 5kg

Check it against your cat's size. A cat should be able to turn fully inside a tray without brushing the sides, and the 43 x 32cm interior here will not allow that for a large adult. The 5kg rating is a genuine limit rather than a cautious one.

Who it's for: Cats under 5kg, small flats and caravans, and owners who would rather the litter box did not look apologetic.
