An open bag of dry food loses freshness from the moment it is opened, and the bag's own resealable strip is rarely airtight enough to stop that over weeks of daily use - which is really the whole argument for a dedicated container. Moderna's Trendy Story range covers a run of sizes rather than one fixed tub, from X-Small up to Jumbo.

Each container is designed to be airtight, to keep food fresher for longer, and comes with a scoop included so you are not reaching in with a cup from the kitchen. The surface finish uses an in-mould label decorating technique, which Moderna say keeps the design scratch and UV resistant, and the containers are dishwasher safe - Moderna's own care note is to use warm water or the dishwasher.

• Airtight sealing to keep food fresh

On sizing. The right size here depends entirely on the size of the bag you buy and how often you shop, and nothing on the card tells you the capacity in cups or in kilograms of a specific food - only the size names themselves. If you already know roughly how much food you get through between shops, size up rather than down, since an overfull scoop is easier to manage than a container that will not close.

Who it's for: owners who buy dry food in bulk and want it to stay fresh between bags, in a container sized to match a small cat's ration up to a household running through a large bag quickly.
