In a multi-cat household, one of the simplest ways to know instantly whose bowl is whose is to give each cat a different colour — a small thing, but it saves a mealtime stand-off over the wrong dish.

This is Moderna's Smarty bowl in the X-Small size, in a Spicy Coral finish: low-sided, food-approved plastic that keeps whiskers clear of the sides, with a non-slip base to stop it sliding as a cat noses at the last of the food. It's dishwasher safe for cleaning between meals.

• 210ml capacity
• L 14.7 x W 13 x H 3.4cm
• BPA-free, non-toxic plastic
• Non-slip base
• Dishwasher safe
• Colour: Spicy Coral

One thing worth knowing. Moderna describe the base as non-slip, but no independent grip figures are supplied, and no weight for the bowl itself is published — on a very smooth floor, a light plastic bowl can still move more than a heavier one would.

Who it's for: owners of a single cat, or a multi-cat household wanting a distinct colour per cat, who want a small, shallow bowl sized for one meal at a time.
