A perch that's the wrong texture does nothing for a bird's feet all day, every day, which is a long time for a small oversight to go unnoticed — nail trimming in cage birds is largely a side-effect of what they stand on, not a separate job you do to them.

These are sanded perch covers with a fine texture, designed as an aid for keeping a bird's nails trim and clean. The pack we hold facts for is the standard size — 4 covers per packet — and Johnson's also list a Large size within the same range, so check which matches your birds' perches before buying. They're for budgies, canaries and similar cage birds.

• 4 covers per packet (standard size)
• Fine-textured sanded surface
• Helps keep nails trim and clean
• Also available in a Large size
• For budgies, canaries and similar cage birds

On picking the right size. A cover that's too loose or too tight for the perch underneath won't do its job properly and may come loose — Johnson's don't publish the exact diameter range for either the standard or Large cover on this listing, so match it against your existing perch by eye, or ask before ordering if you're unsure.

Who it's for: keepers of budgies, canaries and similar birds who want a low-effort way to help keep nails from overgrowing, without a separate nail-trimming routine.
