The scoop is the detail. Every hooded tray comes with one and almost nobody knows where theirs is, because there is nowhere sensible to put a used litter scoop. This one has a hideaway spot for it moulded into the ceiling of the hood, which sounds trivial and is the sort of thing you appreciate every single day.

It is 50cm, with a hinged door for a quick entry and total privacy, and a filter set into the foldable part of the top cover that traps smells using active coal. Two clip-locks hold the hood to the base and an integrated handle makes it easy to move. It cleans with warm soapy water, and it is made from BPA-free, non-toxic and 100% recyclable premium plastic.

Some cats say no to a hood, and more say no to a door. A covered tray keeps the smell in the tray rather than in the room, which is what you want and not necessarily what your cat wants — a nervous cat in particular can find a flap and an enclosed space off-putting. Introduce it with the door removed and add it once they are using it happily. If you have more than one cat, the standard guidance is one tray each plus a spare, and covering them does not change that arithmetic.

Who it's for: households who want the tray contained and the smell managed, and anyone who has lost their litter scoop more than twice.
