Full description

A drinker that swings loose in a cage tends to end up dry side down more often than the right way up, which is the entire argument for hanging it rather than resting it on the cage floor.

This is Hatchwells' 2 Hook Drinker in white, measuring 115mm x 83mm x 65mm. It's made from high-impact polystyrene, which Hatchwells describe as tough enough for the sharpest beaks, and it fixes to the cage with wire hooks. It's made in Great Britain.

What the label does not say. No liquid capacity in millilitres is given, so we can't tell you how many days it holds water for a given bird, and no guidance is given on which cage bar spacing the hooks suit best.

Who it's for: cage bird owners who want a hanging drinker rather than a floor-standing one, in a size suited to smaller cages.

Why we chose it

High-impact polystyrene tough enough for beaks is a fairly specific claim, and it's the reason a plastic drinker is worth trusting near a bird that will absolutely test it. Two hooks rather than one also means it hangs straighter, which matters more than it sounds once the cage gets knocked.
