Full description

A bird kept on a perfectly round dowel all day is standing on the one shape its feet never evolved to grip well, which is why a natural branch shape gets recommended so often.

This is Happy Pet's Branch Perch, made from 100% natural wood rather than moulded plastic, and it comes in a choice of sizes. It fits into most cages without tools, and the irregular natural shape gives a bird's feet more to grip than a smooth dowel would.

100% natural wood
No tools needed to fit
Irregular branch shape for foot grip
Nibbling helps keep the beak worn down
Available in more than one size

On sizing: the makers don't publish exact dimensions for each size in this range, so match the size to your cage width by eye rather than by a measurement we can't confirm - a perch that's too long will jam the door, and one too short won't give a bigger bird room to turn.

Who it's for: owners of cage birds who want a natural alternative to a plastic dowel perch, and whose bird could do with more to nibble at through the day.

Happy Pet Branch Perch

Why we chose it

Natural wood costs more to make than plastic dowel, and that's the reason a plain branch perch is worth the difference - a bird actually wears its beak down on it rather than just standing there. It's a straightforward swap into most cages without buying new fittings.
