A Sphynx in a British winter is working hard just to stay at temperature. No coat means no insulation, and a room that feels merely cool to you can feel cold all day to them. This double-sided fleece jumper puts a layer back on, with a high collar that covers the neck and chest, which is where hairless cats lose most of their heat and where a badly cut garment tends to leave a gap.

The fabric is thick double-sided fleece with genuine stretch, so it moves with the cat instead of pinning the shoulders, and the front zip means you are not pulling anything over an unimpressed head. That matters more with cats than with dogs: the garment they can be dressed in without a fight is the garment that actually gets worn. The high collar suits Devon Rex and other fine-coated breeds as well as truly hairless ones.

• Double-sided fleece, described by the maker as super thick
• Stretch fabric in a regular length
• Contrast front zip with a high collar
• Sizes XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL, in green
• Garment weight 160g to 210g depending on size
• Suits Sphynx, Devon Rex and other low-coat breeds

Two things worth knowing. Cats accept clothing at very different rates and some never do, so introduce it for a few minutes at a time indoors and stop if the cat freezes or flattens rather than walking normally. And check the fit around the front legs, because a jumper that rubs in the armpit will be off within a day.

Who it's for: Owners of hairless or fine-coated cats who need a real warm layer for draughty rooms, cold nights and recovery after grooming.
