A bowl that slides across the kitchen floor while a cat is eating from it teaches most cats to eat somewhere else instead, which is usually the exact spot you were trying to avoid. The fix is weight and grip at the base rather than anything about the food itself.

This is a stainless steel dish from the Fed 'n' Watered range, built with a non-tip, anti-skid design so it stays put while in use. It holds 0.30 litres (8oz) and measures 15cm across, sized for a single cat's meal rather than a shared or multi-cat bowl.

• Stainless steel construction
• Non-tip, anti-skid base
• 15cm diameter
• 0.30 litre (8oz) capacity
• Part of the Fed 'n' Watered stainless steel and plastic bowl range

On cleaning. the makers do not tell us whether this dish is dishwasher-safe, though stainless steel generally tolerates it better than plastic. If you are not sure, hand-washing is the safer default until you have checked.

Who it's for: owners of a single cat who want a lightweight, easy-to-clean bowl that will not skate around the floor mid-meal — useful for a cat that eats with more enthusiasm than table manners.
