Scrubbing a litter tray is the job that gets put off longest in a lot of houses, and it's usually smell rather than mess that finally forces the issue.

Catsan's Smart Pack is a pre-made inlay rather than loose litter you pour yourself: a super-absorbent liner sits underneath a layer of Catsan Hygiene Plus litter, so the liquid gets pulled through and locked away from the surface. The pack contains two inlays, and Catsan state that the two are as absorbent as 30 litres of conventional, non-clumping litter.

• Two inlays per pack
• Pre-layered: absorbent liner beneath Catsan Hygiene Plus litter
• Catsan state 2 inlays absorb as much as 30 litres of conventional litter
• Lifts out and disposes of as one piece, without scrubbing the tray
• Suitable for kittens

On fit. Catsan don't give us the tray dimensions this inlay is designed for, so it's worth checking it against your own tray size before ordering — an inlay that doesn't sit flush against the sides won't control odour as well as the pack claims.

Who it's for: owners who'd rather lift out and replace a whole tray liner than scoop and scrub, and anyone setting a kitten up with its first tray, since Catsan pitch this as a comfortable first experience.
