Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.
How to measure
- Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
- Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
- If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Full description
Thin, light and cut for warm weather rather than for warmth: a gingham dress with a bow at the neck and a ruffle around the hem, in a fabric that feels like cotton and breathes like one. It steps on rather than pulling over the head, which is usually the difference between a cat who tolerates being dressed and one who disappears under the bed at the sight of it.
The whole garment weighs between 15 and 30 grams depending on the size, which is close to nothing, and that lightness is what makes summer pet clothing bearable at all. The fabric has some stretch in it so it moves with the shoulders rather than pinning them, and it washes and dries quickly. Four sizes are made, S through XL, in the single gingham pattern shown in the photographs.
