A cage floor that's easy to clean gets cleaned more often, which matters more for a bird's health than almost any other single housekeeping habit an owner can build.

Cage Proud's Aviary Sand is a specially selected, graded superfine sand with added oyster shell, sold in a 10kg bag. It's designed to line the floor of cages and aviaries to make cleaning easier, and Cage Proud say the added oyster shell aids digestion and provides essential trace elements and minerals as birds pick at it. It's suitable for a wide range of aviary and cage birds, including budgies, canaries, cockatiels, finches and parrots.

What isn't given. No coverage area per bag is stated, so how far 10kg goes depends on the size of your cage or aviary and how deep you lay it — there's no figure here to plan around.

Who it's for: owners of aviary or cage birds wanting a floor sand that does more than sit there, giving birds access to oyster shell for digestion and minerals as they naturally pick at the floor.
