A crate earns its place by being easy to put away. The ones that end up staying up permanently are the ones that are a fight to collapse, and at that point a crate has stopped being a tool and become furniture — so the fold-flat mechanism matters more than almost anything else on the specification.

This is the large size: 91cm long, 56cm wide and 63cm high once it is up. It folds flat without tools, and there is a door on the front and a second on the side, so it can sit against a wall either way round and still open into the room. The base is a slide-in plastic tray you pull out to clean rather than tipping the whole crate over a bin, both doors have slide-bolt latches, and there is a carry handle on the top.
