That matters, because long-term under-drinking sits behind a great deal of feline kidney and urinary trouble, and moving water is the one thing that reliably changes a cat's mind about the whole business.
The reservoir here holds four litres, so a multi-cat household, or one that is out all day, is not topping it up twice before teatime. The basin is stainless steel rather than plastic, and that is not a styling choice: plastic scratches, and those scratches hold the greasy biofilm that turns a fountain sour between cleans.
