Cockapoo puppy feeding chart

There's no single chart that fits every Cockapoo puppy, partly because it's a crossbreed that can vary noticeably in adult size depending on whether a Poodle parent was toy, miniature or standard. The feeding guide printed on your specific puppy food's pack, matched to your puppy's current weight and adjusted as they grow, is a more reliable starting point than a generic chart.

Why Cockapoo size varies more than a purebred's

Cockapoos are a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, and because Poodles themselves come in toy, miniature and standard sizes, a Cockapoo's adult size can vary considerably between litters and even within the same litter. That makes a single fixed feeding chart less useful than for a breed with a more predictable adult size.

This is part of why the feeding guide on your puppy's specific food, based on their actual current weight rather than an assumed final adult size, is the more reliable way to work out portions as they grow.

Watching your Cockapoo puppy's growth

Because you often can't predict exactly how big a Cockapoo puppy will end up, checking their weight and body condition regularly — rather than feeding to a guess at their eventual adult size — helps keep portions appropriate to how they're actually growing, not how big you expect them to get.

If your puppy seems to be growing unusually fast or slow, or you're unsure how their weight compares to what's expected, your vet can check their body condition and growth properly rather than relying on guesswork.

Common questions

How big will my Cockapoo puppy grow?
This depends on the size of the Poodle parent in the cross — toy, miniature or standard — and can vary even within the same litter, which is why Cockapoos don't have one fixed adult size the way some purebred dogs do.
How many meals a day does a Cockapoo puppy need?
Most puppy food guides recommend three to four meals daily for a young puppy, reducing to two as they mature. Check the specific guide on your puppy's food pack, since this varies by brand and recipe.
When should I switch my Cockapoo to adult food?
This depends on your puppy's actual size and follows the guide given on their puppy food's own packaging, generally somewhere between nine and fifteen months depending on how big they've grown. Ask your vet if you're unsure when it's right for your dog.
