Dog Walkers
Find dog walkers across the UK for solo walks, small group walks and puppy visits while you are at work or out for the day.
This directory is new
We are adding dog walkers town by town. If you are one, list your business free and you will be among the first shown in your area.
Ask how many dogs are on each walk
Many UK councils limit how many dogs one person may walk at once on council land, often to four or six, and some require a licence. A walker with eight dogs out together cannot watch all of them, and an off-lead group that size is where fights and lost dogs happen.
Insurance and keys
A professional walker should hold public liability insurance that names dog walking, and ideally care, custody and control cover for the dogs themselves. They will usually hold a key to your home, so ask about a DBS check and how keys are labelled and stored.
A trial walk tells you more than a website
Most good walkers offer a meet-and-greet and a first walk before you commit. Watch how they handle your dog on the lead, ask where they go, and ask for a photo or a short message after each walk so you know it happened.
What to look for in a dog walker
- ✓Public liability insurance that covers dog walking
- ✓A DBS check, since they will hold a key to your home
- ✓How many dogs they walk at once (many councils cap it at four or six)
- ✓Solo or group walks, and how long your dog is actually out
- ✓What happens if they are ill or the weather is extreme
- ✓A trial walk and a written agreement before you start
