Most plush toys last one enthusiastic evening. Tuffy build theirs closer to the way a kit bag is built, with several bonded layers of material stitched through in multiple rows and protective webbing laid over the seams, which is exactly where an ordinary soft toy gives way first. It does not make them indestructible, and Tuffy have never claimed it does, but it puts them in a different category from a supermarket squeaker.

The Zoo Tiger floats, which makes it useful for river and beach dogs as much as for the garden, and the whole toy goes through the washing machine and then air-dries. That is worth more than it sounds, because the reason most soft toys get thrown out is not damage but the state they end up in. On chewers. Tough is not the same as chew-proof, and Tuffy are straightforward about that themselves, because no fabric toy survives a dedicated destroyer left alone with it for an afternoon. Treat this as a fetch and tug toy used in your company, and retire it once the outer layer opens rather than waiting for the stuffing to come out.
