Tuffy's naming takes some decoding, so here it is plainly: Mega is the durability range and Small is the size. What you are looking at is a smaller octopus built to the heavier specification, which is a genuinely useful combination for a strong dog with a small mouth, or for a young dog you would rather not see hauling something oversized around the living room all evening.

The construction is the same as the rest of the range. Several layers of material are bonded together, stitched through with multiple rows of thread, and the seams covered with protective webbing, so the first place a dog attacks is the reinforced part rather than the weak one. It floats, which makes it a decent water toy, and it goes through the washing machine after a muddy week. Air dry rather than tumble, since heat is harder on the bonding than the wash.

• Mega range construction in the small size
• Multiple bonded layers with several rows of stitching
• Protective webbing over the seams
• Tiger-print finish
• Floats, so it works in water
• Machine washable, air dry
• Around 290 g

Who it's for: Smaller dogs with big opinions about toys, and anyone who wants Tuffy toughness without a giant plush in the room.
