This is a wet paste rather than a biscuit: salmon and chicken liver blended smooth enough to squeeze straight from the pouch, onto a lick mat, or over the top of a meal. Cats who walk past dry treats usually do not walk past this, because it smells like food rather than like a snack.

Salmon leads the composition, with chicken liver behind it, pea protein and tapioca starch holding the texture together, fish oil at 0.5% and guar gum. Taurine is added at 1000mg per kg. The analysis reads crude protein 8%, crude fat 2%, crude fibre 1%, crude ash 0.5% and moisture 88%. The pouch reseals, so a cat who wants a smear rather than the lot is not a problem.

Do not read that 8% protein like a bag of biscuits. The paste is 88% water, so almost all of what you are holding is moisture and the protein figure is not comparable to a dry treat at all. That cuts both ways: it is a genuinely useful way to get fluid into a cat who does not drink much, and it is a poor way to get protein into one.

Who it's for: Fussy cats, cats who need persuading, lick mat households, and anyone whose cat cares more about the smell of a thing than the shape of it. If your cat only wants crunch, this is the wrong shelf.

Is this a meal or a treat?

A treat. The maker's guidance is to feed it by hand, in a bowl, as a mealtime topper, or rubbed into a lick mat, with fresh drinking water always available.

Why is taurine in a treat?

Taurine is added at 1000mg per kg. The maker says it is there to support eye and heart health, and the fish oil is there for skin and coat. In a complementary treat it is a small bonus rather than a reason to change your cat's food.

How is the salmon different from the chicken and the duck?

Only in the first ingredient. Every paste in the range runs chicken liver, pea protein, tapioca starch, fish oil at 0.5% and guar gum behind the named meat, and all four share the same analysis and the same taurine level. Choose on what your cat likes, not on the numbers.

Can it be frozen or chilled?

The maker recommends it for lick mats and enrichment toys, which is how most people use it. Follow the storage wording on the pouch itself for anything beyond that, and reseal it rather than leaving it open.

Why is the weight on the pack worth checking?

Our line is recorded at 60g while the maker's own range is listed at 75g. We would rather flag that than quietly print a number we have not weighed. The recipe and the analysis are the same either way.
