What a starter set includes

A typical beginner kit has an adjustable jump or two, a set of weave poles, an open tunnel and sometimes a pause box. Adjustable-height jumps matter most — you start low so your dog succeeds and protects growing or older joints, then raise them as confidence builds.

It is fantastic exercise on a small footprint, and the focus it demands tires a busy brain in a way a walk often cannot — a real help for high-energy and easily-bored dogs.

Training it safely

Introduce one piece at a time, lure with a treat pouch and reward generously, and keep jumps low until your dog is warmed up and moving confidently. Avoid hard, twisting jumps for puppies (whose growth plates are still open) and for seniors or dogs with joint issues.

Warm up first, build sessions gradually, and stop while it is still fun. Our dog training hub covers focus and reward-based foundations that make agility click.

Everything here is chosen to be genuinely useful in everyday life with your pet — quality-checked, fairly priced and shipped tracked across the UK. For any health concern, your vet is always the best first port of call.

Common questions

Is agility good for dogs?

Very — it combines physical exercise with mental focus, building fitness, confidence and the bond between you. Keep jumps low for puppies and seniors and warm up to protect joints.

What agility equipment should a beginner buy?

Start with an adjustable-height jump, a set of weave poles and an open tunnel. Adjustable jumps are key so you can begin low and raise the challenge as your dog improves.

Can any dog do agility?

Most healthy dogs can enjoy a gentle version for fun and fitness. Go easy with growing puppies, seniors and breeds prone to joint or back issues, and check with your vet if unsure.
